OGHAM TREES

Ogham (pronounced OH-am) is an ancient alphabet used by the Irish as well as the Picts and the Welsh.  It is often called the Celtic Tree alphabet because each letter is assigned a tree name.  As off shoot of my ceramic works using Pictish symbols I started making tree trunks with Ogham letters carved into each one and usually with some meaning related to the piece.

GREEN MEN

From the Green Man faces found in many Christian churches throughout Europe to J. R. R. Tolkien's Ents from Lord of the Rings  man has always found, or made, a connection with nature.  These are six ceramic works in a series of Tree Faces where I found that connection.
